20 Jan Prices for Timber Garden Sheds in Ireland
Are you confused trying to figure out how Timber garden sheds are priced. We will try to make things easy here, there are a lot of options and therefore a lot of prices, here is the quick guide to pricing your new garden shed
Timber garden sheds are priced by size but more importantly by the type of timber used to manufacture the shed. The type of timber you select will depend on what you want to use the shed for and how long you intend keeping the shed and obviously by your budget
The Shed Company offer three different shed ranges and here is a quick description of each and why you might select it
Garden Shed – Rustic Board Finish
The rustic finish is the basic finish, the walls of the garden shed are built with overlapping timbers which are rough (have not been planed). The floor and roof are butt jointed timbers. The roof is finished outside with green mineral felt and a window is fitted with perspex. The door is fitted as standard with the hinges on the right hand side when viewed from outside. This is the cheapest option available. The timber used will not keep out all weather particularly during very windy and wet weather. This shed is for storing items not affected by damp such as garden spades, bicycles, garden furniture ( not the cushions). This shed should last about 15 years. It is not sold as a high quality product more an affordable product. The timber is rough and beware of splinters.
Garden Sheds – Economy Ship Lapped Timber in Walls
The exterior of the Economy garden shed is finished with 6” by 1” (125mm by 16mm) weather board, this gives a nicer and cleaner finish to the shed, the smooth finish offers better protection from the weather and is easier to paint. The floor and roof are butt jointed timbers. The roof is finished with mineral felt and one window on the side is standard glazed with perspex. So this shed will be better protected from the driving rain. The smooth finish on the timber allows the water to run off and also makes the shed easier to paint or apply wood stain. This shed makes more sense if the budget will allow, it will last longer, look better, keep the rain out and would be more suitable for kids to play in ( less splinters) and better protection if being used for pets/kennel.
Garden Sheds – Pressure Treated Barrel Board Finish
The pressure treated range of sheds are manufactured from pressure treated spruce sourced from Scandinavia. The timbers have been shaped into a log effect and are ship-lapped to give better weathering while the floor and roof have tongued and grooved timbers to offer greater strength. This is a slow growing timber it is very suitable for the Irish climate. Because the shed is pressure treated you don’t need to worry about painting it unless of course you just want it to look fresh. This shed will last a lifetime. It is bought by customers looking for a shed for the long-term. It is suitable for all types of storage and for kids and pets. A more expensive option but well worth the money if the budget can afford.
